Beauty and power are two words that come to mind when thinking about the Mazda6. Mazda's premier sedan has been one of its best sellers for several years and the 2018 edition is getting a pretty hefty upgrade. One of the only gripes drivers have had with the 6 has been its lack of engine options. Might those complaints be put to rest with the 2018 model?
We think just about every past grievance about the Mazda6's engine will be eradicated. The base 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine is powered by 184 horses. Not too bad, right? Well, drivers have been wanting something more and the 2018 version definitely has something more. Call that a tease—we're going to touch on this more below.
We'll say it again—an added engine option has been one of the biggest asks of the Mazda6. While the base engine certainly isn't anything to sneeze at, the new turbocharged option will blow drivers away. The new option is a SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine that is powered by 227 horses. It also has 310 lb.-ft. of torque. Shoppers will now have the choice of sticking with the base engine or upgrading to this turbocharged option if they want a little more thrill. The Mazda6 also comes with advanced features like Mazda Connect infotainment, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Yes, it's more than an engine.
